Golf Course
A successful project hinges upon proper programming of each discipline involved. As the Landscape Architect, it is our tacit responsibility to plan and design each project intelligently by developing a Project Program. Through research and analysis, we can organize a program of requirements based upon input from all interested persons who can contribute constructive thought.
Design Principles
Research & Analysis
Coherence - Linking together of areas by spacial definition.
Organization - Materials should be sympathetic to perception of pedestrians & automobiles.
Geometric Patterns - Arrange trees in definite purposeful patterns to bring life to outdoor spaces.
Transitions - Create transitions between spaces, functions, and buildings.
Scale - Aesthetic use of plants to enable people to comfortably relate to their surrounding environment.
Light & Shadow - Arrange trees to provide shade and admit light in critical areas at appropriate times.
Materials - Create a sense of permanence.
Maintenance - Design and use of materials to allow easy maintenance procedures.
Methodology
To plan a project intelligently, we must first have an understanding of the site. Not only the specific area contained within the project limits, but the total site; those areas surrounding the immediate site that have a influence on the site. The collection and delineation of these influences can include the following.
Soils Classification
Hydrology and Drainage
Topography & Slope Classification
Vegetation
Prevailing Winds & Sun Orientation
Historical Significance
Physiolographic Obstructions
Wetland Delineation
Sensitive Ecosystems
